UNIDO delegation visit to SIMS Recycling Solutions

On the 07-09 th of February 2011 UNIDO delegation visited SIMS Recycling Solutions plant in Eindhoven (the Netherlands) with a working visit.

Sims Recycling Solutions is the electronics recycling division of the world’s largest metals recycling company, Sims Metal Management Limited. The business was established in 1917 by Albert Sims, an Australian-based recycled metals dealer and has grown to over 230 operations in five continents employing over 5,600 people. In fiscal year 2010, global turnover exceeded €5bn.

Sims Recycling Solutions is the world’s largest electrical and electronics recovery and recycling company. Based on over 40 recycling centers in five continents, Sims Recycling Solutions recover end of life or redundant equipment such as computers, televisions and phones, unlocking any residual value for our clients.

The Sims Recycling Solutions facilities in Eindhoven include a general WEEE recycling centre.

Eindhoven processes around 60,000 tonnes of e-waste each year and has special facilities for processing toner cartridges from copiers and printers and others.

During the visit UNIDO experts met with European Client & Product Development Director of SIMS Recycling Solutions Mr. Morgan Johnson and discussed issues of possible cooperation with the company in development of WEEE market in Russia .

UNIDO experts made an inspection of SIMS Recycling Solutions plant, where they were able to get acquainted with main processing lines: CRT monitors processing line, printer cartridges processing line, household electronics processing line and others.
