UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian FederationDirector
Message from the CIIC Director Last year, the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Co-operation in the Russian Federation celebrated its 20th anniversary. A lot of political and economical changes occurred during these years, while UNIDO has further strengthened its commitment to assist both Russian government and business community in a very difficult transition process. The UNIDO—Russia cooperation has been ranging from stand-alone projects to Integrated Programmes and to Country Service Frameworks. Recently, the Russian Federation became an emerging donor providing special purpose contribution to the Industrial Development Fund. The CIIC Russian Federation acting both as Investment and Technology Promotion Office and UNIDO Focal Point, will continue to promote wide-scale cooperation between Russian authorities, public institutions, scientific and research organizations, private business and UNIDO member countries. On the 1-2nd of June in Moscow (Russia) the International Theoretical and Practical Conference “Contemporary Approaches to Rubber goods and Tires Recycling and Disposal” was held in Russian Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas. Conference was held in the framework of the UNIDO/Russia project “BAT/BEP Centre for environmentally safe disposal of potentially hazardous consumer products and industrial wastes”. The event was organized by the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Co-operation in the Russian Federation, the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, 17 May 2011 – The Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Kandeh K. Yumkella, today called for a fundamental change in the way the world produces and consumes, saying that countries should green their economies. “We need a fundamental change in how we produce, consume and exchange goods. This is how we can green our economies, our growth strategies, and our industries, creating new green jobs, stimulating green investments, and encouraging green innovations,” said Yumkella. On the 04-08 th of May 2011 UNIDO delegation headed by the Director of the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Co-operation in the Russian Federation Sergey Korotkov visited VALORPNEU in Lisbon (Portugal) with a working visit. VALORPNEU is a non-profit private limited company, created on February the 27 th, 2002, with the objective to organize and manage the system for collection, recovery and ultimate disposal of used tyres. VALORPNEU is one of the first European companies of its kind created to handle used tyres. Read more First Russian-Armenian Regional Business ForumMay 18, 2011 
18-19 April 2011, Yerevan – under auspices of the Russian and Armenian Presidential Executive Offices the first Russian-Armenian Regional Business Forum was held in Armenia. The Forum was organized by the Russian Federation, presented by the Development Fund “Institute Of Eurasian Studies” and Rossotrudnichestvo, and the Republic of Armenia, presented by the Government of Armenia and the Armenian Development Agency.
