UNIDO mission to the Republic of Kazakhstan

On the 9-11 th of March 2011 the UNIDO delegation, consisted of F.Condorelli (UNIDO, Vienne), S.E.Pokrovskiy (UNIDO CIIC, Russian Federation) and Director General of the Inter-regional centre of industrial subcontracting and partnership A.N.Kiselev, participated in the conference “Industry modernization in the Republic of Kazakhstan” in Astana.During the conference the UNIDO representatives presented the UNIDO Project to enhance the industrial integration of EurAsEC countries, A.N.Kiselev focused on industrial cooperation experience in Russia.

The UNIDO experts held a number of meetings and discussions regarding UNIDO–EurAsEC project with high level representatives of the Kazakhstan establishment, including Vice Prime Minister A.Isekeshev, Chairman of the Committee of Industry (Ministry of Industry and New Technologies) A.Taspikhov, Director of Analytical Center (National Investment Fund) R.Salimov, Managing Director of National Investment Fund J.Rakhimov, President of Kazakhstan Industry Development Institute (KIRI) M.Kazhyken and others. Negotiations with M.Kazhyken resulted in signing of a Memorandum which confirms intensions of Kazakhstan side to support foundation of the Kazakhstan Centre for Industrial Modernization and International Cooperation.

The representatives of the Kazakhstan side expressed the willingness to contribute to the development of cooperation with UNIDO and reconfirmed the wish to send a delegation of experts to Vienna to discuss further details regarding cooperation enhancement.
