VTB Group and UNIDO Centre in the Russian Federation hold a joint conference “E-commerce new horizons in Russia and abroad”

At the Analytical Centre under the Government of the Russian Federation experts discussed current trends of global e-commerce and export opportunities for Russian small enterprises through e-commerce.

The Head of the Small Business Department of VTB Mrs. Nadiya Cherkasova presented the bank’s experience in the field of transborder trade, noting that almost 99% of small business clients of the VTB Group executed payments online. “The B2B-platform “Business-connect” can be used for establishing international contacts. The export component in the small business segment is undeniably a trend. The analysis of customer database of VTB Business Group and external economic activity market confirms that our clients are active abroad. Export through e-commerce platforms at the moment, is an obligatory condition for several markets to engage in trade”, Nadiya Cherkasova reported.

The Director of the UNIDO Centre Mr. Sergey Korotkov presented to the event’s participants the Organization’s activities in promoting exchanges of experiences and best practices among BRICS and other countries in the field of e-commerce. “UNIDO considers e-commerce and e-business as one of the most promising areas in fully realizing the potential of information and communication technologies for stimulating and reinforcing the development process”, said Sergey Korotkov.

The Managing Director for International Trade Promotion of the Russian Export Centre (REC) Mr. Mikhail Mamonov presented the strategic partnership with VTB Group and shared future plans on joint promotion of Russian non-primary exports. Deputy Head of the Analytical Centre under the Government of the Russian Federation Mrs. Tatiana Radchenko delivered a report “Export through e-commerce channels: problematic issues and proposals for solution”. The Head of Product and Marketing for Business at eBay presented the experience of export expansion using Ebay instruments.

A session “Future of e-commerce: key trends for the next decade” was held within the conference, in which representatives of LLC “Pal” (Alibaba service partner in Russia), Yandex.Market, Yandex.Money and Russian Post took part.

At the end of the event more than 150 participants were offered individual consultations by representatives of VTB Group and REC on e-commerce, customs administration, logistics support, banking guarantees, external economic activity products and certification.
