UN Industrial Development Organization turns 50

November 17, 2016 marked the 50th anniversary of the UN General Assembly resolution on the establishment of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

From 21 to 25 November at the UNIDO headquarters in the Vienna International Centre takes place activities on celebration of the Organization’s 50th anniversary. More than 700 participants from around the world gathered to take part in the celebrations.

During the opening ceremony representatives of UNIDO Member States, UN organizations, development finance institutions and private sector partners took the stage to highlight the continued importance of inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. All speakers also stressed their firm intention to strengthen their collaboration with UNIDO in the years to come.
