Russian investment forum concluded in Sochi

From 15 to 16 February 2018 the Russian Investment Forum [ссылка на: http://www.rusinvestforum.org]. took place in Sochi. The annual event gathered more than 6100 participants, including the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, Governors of Russian regions, major Russian and foreign companies, representatives of business and scientific community from more than 60 countries. The Forum, organized in Sochi since 2002, was once again dedicated to opportunities for development of Russian economic potential, attraction of investment, and seeking solutions to most urgent problems faced by the State and business.
Addressing the Forum’s participants and guests at the plenary session „Investing in the regions. Investing in the future“ the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev highlighted the need to create and develop new branches of the economy alongside traditional ones.
As part of the two-day business programme of the Forum more than 50 events were held distributed among three thematic tracks: “A Fresh Boost for Regional Business”; “Improving Quality of Life”; and “New Regional Policy: Improving Administration”. On 15 February, the Director of the UNIDO Centre in Russia Sergey Korotkov and Senior Coordinator, Climate Technology and Innovations Division of UNIDO Carlos Chanduvi Suarez took part in panel discussions “An Environmental image of Russia’s Future: Prospects and Goals” and “Russian Goods on Global Markets: A Glance into the Future”. UNIDO representatives described current activities and future plans of the Organization in the field of creation of a “green” industry in Russia and support to the establishment of strategic business alliances in trade and investment between Russia and other countries.
An exhibition of investment projects of Russian regions was organized within the Forum. The vast exhibition space was occupied by 52 Russian regions demonstrating their investment opportunities. A total of 487 companies from Russian and 116 foreign companies were represented at the Forum. As a result of business meetings 538 agreements were concluded worth a total of 794 bln. rubles.
