III International Municipal Forum of the BRICS countries

On November 5-6, 2021, the III International Municipal Forum of the BRICS countries was held online in St. Petersburg. The event is annual and is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo and the Government of St. Petersburg.

This year, the forum participants considered issues of sustainable development of territories, digitalization of state and municipal services, innovative development of medicine and quality of life, measures to support and develop sports culture and infrastructure in regions and municipalities, and other topical issues. The forum was attended by 235 speakers, as well as over 4.5 thousand spectators. The participants were representatives of the five countries, as well as Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Mali, Peru, Nigeria, Mongolia, Mexico, Egypt, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Austria. In the course of the work, a number of agreements were signed between regions and municipalities.

Sergey Korotkov, Director of the UNIDO CIIC in the Russian Federation, moderated the session „New technologies and methods for the rehabilitation and conservation of water resources“, which discussed issues of state policy in the field of rehabilitation and conservation of freshwater resources, as well as the creation of an international system of financing the industry.

IMF BRICS is being held in St. Petersburg for the third time. The 2022 Forum is scheduled for September 14-15. With a favorable development of the epidemiological situation, the event will be held in full-time format.
